Keep Hope Alive

House of Hope Integrated Housing Opportunity and Garden Co-Op
changing reality, one community at a time.

We can make a difference one neighborhood at a time and are beginning at our House of Hope on Kenned
y Ave. Not only will we provide a Garden Co-Op for all people, but we will also provide a housing opportunity for generations of people to come. This one time cost needed to save our House of Hope from corporate doom, is tiny in comparison to what it would cost the government to continue supporting other families in our same situation. Our lot consists of two houses that will be dedicated to handicapable and retired residents in Campbell, Ca who are living on fixed incomes. We are in desperate need of funding to help keep our House of Hope alive.

The houses will be modified to make life for wheelchair bound or older residents effortless. This integrated housing opportunity is unique for senior citizens and wheelchair bound individuals because typically we’d have to live in an apartment type setting. At the House of Hope a resident will have the opportunity to experience the peaceful lifestyle of suburbia, with all the perks. The effortless garden in the backyard will be available for full use while the tenants reside in the homes. The House of Hope will maintain and run the grounds of the property by offering the community workshops on effortless gardening, fund raising events to support programs designed to enable and empower disabled children in our community, donations from the sale of House of Hope Gear and Produce, and Co-Op access for our neighbors.

As co-founder of The House of Hope, I will remain in the home until all improvements are finished and operations are up and running completely. This in turn will give me the leg up that I need in order to get over that edge into complete independence. I’ve found my niche and am eager to pay forward what so many have helped me achieve. I’ve lived 30 years as an individual in a wheelchair and found a way to live effortlessly in spite of my abundant physical limitations. It is my life’s work to pass along this priceless knowledge to people in similar circumstances.

We have 10 plots of land, on reserve for public use, that are large enough to provide an entire family with fruits and vegetables throughout the summer and into fall. The House of Hope Garden has an abundance of additional fruits and vegetables growing under the watch of our Co-Op founders. Our love and dedication will supply chemical-free produce such as pumpkins, cantaloupe, broccoli and artichokes that require more space to grow then the 8x4 or 6x6 areas provided for our community. Not only will our Garden Co-Op provide the unique therapeutic qualities of being in nature, but we also provide weekly educational workshops for our community’s Little Sprouts!

We’ll work together to learn the importance of going green. Each student will pick a plant to research and have an opportunity to put his or her knowledge to the test in our Little Sprouts Garden. This Summer Program is dedicated to enhancing each Sprout’s aptitude in areas such as: Writing Skills, Reading Comprehension, and Environmental Awareness.

The House of Hope Garden is a place of empowerment and education for all people. We’ve designed an entirely Effortless Garden for our handicapable Sprouts, and neighbors alike. The educational workshops come equipped with completely accessible garden beds that have been raised in order for handicapable gardeners to roll with ease, under and around each station! Most Garden Co-Ops try their best to accommodate people in wheelchairs. Their attempt is completely appreciated; but, for most of us who live a life on wheels, able-bodied accessibility is sometimes not accessible at all.

All proceeds from programs at House of Hope Garden Co-Op go toward keeping Hope alive.
